BUTTERFLY MUSEUM, WRIGHT ST.

The Butterfly Museum located in East Durham, NY, was built in 1830 and was a boarding house until the 1970s. Max Richter, a butterfly expert featured in Popular Science, thoroughly enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge and butterfly collection with all.

The Butterfly Museum's main house sat vacant for over 12 years. When we began gutting, we noticed that the first story (sills and floors) were powder post beetle infested.  Our efforts changed from a restoration to a renovation.
